Assistance Dogs NI – Social Enterprise of the Month

Dec 16, 2025

SENI’s Social Enterprise for the Month is the incredible Disability, Companion & Therapy Dogs | Charity | Assistant Dogs NI.

This Social Enterprise was set up to support fully trained assistance dogs to schools, hospitals, nursing homes, trust facilities, day centres and nursing homes. These intelligent, intuitive dogs reduce anxiety, bring confidence and motivate people of all ages to overcome all kinds of challenges. Like helping children and young people to overcome their fear of hospital visits, or helping people living with dementia to feel calmer and happier, or helping schools to make life that bit easier for children facing anxious times ahead.

Each dog is trained 24/7 from the moment they are pups with each dog costing up to £12,000 to fully train. There are currently 32 dogs working full time in schools across NI and 1 dog who works for the Belfast Trust’s CAMHS team. With so many successful case studies, ADNI would love to keep promoting the benefits that dogs can bring to situations where humans have failed. The more profits the team generates, the more likely it will be that they can open up their charity waiting list which provides dogs to children with autism and disabilities.

ADNI has already had a powerful impact on people right across NI. You can help them by buying into their Canine Intervention Visits and as a true social enterprise, all money is reinvested back into the training of these clever, intuitive life saving dogs. Contact ADNI or visit adni.org.uk for more information.
