Kith and Kin Financial Wellbeing- Social Enterprise of the Month Case Study- February Edition

About Kith and Kin

Founded in 2016 the problems we noticed were local banks closing, people had very few places to if they needed Financial advice, also no organisations were going into communities to deliver financial sessions to improve the knowledge of financial services and to provide 1-1 advice on areas such as Pensions, mortgages etc
Our model was to deliver them in the workplace for a fee and any profits used to provide them free for Community Groups.

Innovative Approach

We are the only Social Enterprise which provides Financial Wellbeing programmes and also access to fee-free financial advice, so we are truly unique!

Our main programmes are:

  • Making the Most of Your Money
  • Women & Money
  • Preparing for Retirement
  • Financial 1-1 Clinics

We are also just about to launch our new online platform, so anyone can complete these programmes online.

Kith & Kin is a great example of how a Social Enterprise can be involved in every area of peoples lives, including Financial Advice, we noticed people need access to advice, but there wasn’t anywhere to go, so a basic problem we noticed, which we can now help with.

Recent Workshops

Kith and Kin have been visiting community centres and women’s programmes to deliver free Women and Money workshops in partnership with Libraries NI and PHA, discussing a range of topics including Menopause, Motherhood, Divorce and Separation, Cancer, Female Pension Inequality and Returning to Work.

One participant said

‘Kith and kin’s advice session was fantastic and it covered a lot of information relevant to both my pension and my child. I appreciated being able to then book a 1-1 for specific advice afterwards as a follow-up.’

‘Stephanie’s presentation on menopause was really informative, accessible, practical and interactive.
I liked the practical suggestions that could be incorporated into normal life such as diet, exercise etc and not just expensive supplements and medicines (when G.P access is difficult)
Stephanie is very friendly, approachable and knowledgeable, whilst also recommending to seek GP advice for specialities, which is very responsible.’
