Salary: £70,000 – £75,000 per annum
Location: Remote (UK-based) – While offices are in East London, applicants from across the UK are welcome. Please note that travel to London for regular meetings will be at the candidate’s own expense.
Hours: 4-5 days per week (flexible, minimum 28 hours)
Contract: Interim, approximately eight months from mid-March 2025 (secondments considered).
Benefits: 25 days annual leave, excluding bank holidays and three additional days over Christmas. A non-contractual 4.5-day working week is also currently offered, subject to workload.

About the Role
This interim leadership position will spearhead The Young Foundation’s commitment to a fair and just transition to net zero for vulnerable households and communities across the UK. The role includes managing significant projects, such as:
- Partnering with the University of Manchester to deliver the JUST Centre
- Advising national and devolved governments on public participation in environmental legislation
- Collaborating with local authorities to develop strategies that foster readiness and resilience for a just transition
This is a critical moment in the UK’s pathway to net zero, requiring effective community engagement and participation to foster trust, support, and collective local action in the drive for sustainability.
As part of a small team and in collaboration with research, innovation, and external affairs colleagues, the interim lead will advance thought leadership, practices, and innovations that ensure a just transition across the UK. Learn more about the Just Transition hub.
