Bolster Community is a values-led, award-winning charity based in Newry. We support individuals and families β especially those facing learning disabilities, social disadvantage, or rural isolation β to live fuller, more connected lives.
Through our innovative social enterprise, Acorn, we deliver short breaks and vocational training β from crafting soy candles and wax melts to building real-world employment skills.
We are seeking a passionate, entrepreneurial Income & Enterprise Manager to lead and grow our hybrid model of enterprise, impact, and fundraising. You’ll be at the heart of shaping Bolsterβs future β increasing income, empowering people, and expanding opportunity.
π Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
β’ Develop and implement an income generation plan in collaboration with the CEO and operational leadership team.
β’ Deliver a sustainable strategy covering enterprise sales, donor development, grants, campaigns, and social investment.
β’ Build strategic relationships with funders, partners, commissioners, and community stakeholders.
β’ Stay informed on trends in social enterprise, fundraising, and ethical trading to guide innovation.
β’ Support and mentor staff and volunteers involved in enterprise and fundraising.
Business Development & Income Generation
β’ Grow income through online, in-store, wholesale, events, and community fundraising.
β’ Identify and secure new funding opportunities via grants, tenders, and CSR partnerships.
β’ Oversee pricing, merchandising, and profitability to ensure commercial viability.
Service Coordination
β’ Plan and price meaningful short-breaks and vocational experiences for adults with learning disabilities.
β’ Ensure services are person-centred, outcomes-based, and compliant with safeguarding standards.
β’ Promote inclusive participation, supporting individuals to build skills and employment pathways.
Marketing & Communications
β’ Collaborate with the Communications team to market products and services across digital, print, and social media.
β’ Represent Bolster Community at events and sector forums as a positive ambassador.
β’ Ensure all messaging reflects our values and communicates impact clearly.
Monitoring, Impact & Reporting
β’ Track and evaluate income, sales, service outcomes, and fundraising performance.
β’ Lead on social impact measurement and reporting to funders and stakeholders.
β’ Use insights for continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
π€ Person Specification
Essential
β’ A third level degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline or 4 years’ experience in a senior management role with responsibility for business or service functions.
β’ Strong knowledge of business case writing and income generation.
β’ Entrepreneurial thinker with commercial awareness and social impact focus.
β’ Excellent communication, relationship-building, and project management skills.
β’ Experience supervising staff and volunteers.
β’ A full current driving licence with access to a car or access to transport to fulfil the requirements of the post
Desirable
β’ Knowledge of commissioning structures and philanthropic organisations.
β’ Understanding of the disability, social care, or community development sector.
β’ Familiarity with self-directed support, personal budgets, or public sector commissioning.
β’ Experience in donor-led or community fundraising.
